The Gateway of India, built by the British for the visit in 1911 of King George V but not officially opened until 1924. It's a gathering place for locals and tourists alike.

The Taj Mahal Hotel, just a couple of months after it was bombed in the November 2008 terrorist attack. It was build early in the 20th century by the industrialist JN Tata, after being refused entry in one of the European hotels. He built something to exceed the others in grandeur and stick a thumb in the eye of imperial racism.

Mumbai does have some grand imperial architecture, such as this building of the university.

Another interesting blend of colonial and local architectural styles.

Victoria train station, made famous in the movie "Slum Dof Millionaire." It was a lot cleaner in the movie than in real life.

An Ambassador taxi, found through most of India.

A modern baseball cap and traditional chili and lime good luck charm.

An Indian family takes a spin around Mumbai in one of the many elaborately decorated carriages.

If the Ellora caves are not enough, you can find more Hindu temples carved into the mountain stone on Elephanta Island, offshore from Delhi.
